Profile I truly believe that there is a great deal more to be gained from training for yourself rather than for anybody else. Having learned strength training, weightlifting, nutritional protocols and a variety of other skills from some national coaches as well as international experts including training with the Poliquin coaching program, various courses, university coaches and local athletes I feel confident in my work and value the importance of continued learning. Currently working with some local Athletes as well as training myself, I of course cannot offer anyone anything I do not myself have...The work do with the athletic community is wholeheartedly directed at improving the performance and health of each individual, if I improve my profile in the process that's a great bonus. The personal training work I do brings me into contact with a plethora of goals to fulfill and problem solving for each person. I encourage anyone who wishes to physically train, to get stronger. In doing so they have a greater ability to develop healthier lifestyles. If I were to simplify the long term method of strength training to its skeleton methodology for the average client, it might look like this: Energy - Balance - Strength - Performance Everything is based on you as an individual, deducing information that aids in training via testing, assessment and observation - this is how to produce excellent gains in strength, rehabilitation or alleviation of conditions, and greater gains in health and energy. Profile I then naturally followed this career path and studied my manual therapies at the READE Institute in London, part of the International Register of Massage Therapists (IRMT). Having qualified in these therapies I then realised that I could relieve someone’s pain but felt there had to be more I could do to prevent these injuries from recurring. I decided to study for an exercise coach qualification, and this led me to the CHEK institute. My knowledge at the CHEK institute has allowed me to create personalised exercise programmes for clients from all walks of life, working particularly on postural considerations. I firmly believe that posture in relaxation is the key to reduction of injuries and reduction of tension and stress in the body. Jo Tankard |
